Nature of position: Permanent, Full-Time
Compensation: $37.00/hr

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related human / social service field.
  • Two (2) years recent related experience which may include: working with youth experiencing multiple barriers, mental health and substance use concerns, additional and support needs
  • One (1) year supervisory or administrative experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Driver’s licence, clean drivers abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Plans and develops a program in consultation with the Manager. Plans and implements program activities and special events in multiple communities.
  • Formulates program policies and procedures
  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program
  • Schedules program staff in accordance to program staffing requirements.
  • Monitors and authorizes program expenditures and maintains financial records in accordance with established procedures. Prepares the program budget for submission and presentation to senior management and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with work and education community partners and stakeholders and liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the organization or program in external events.
  • Coordinate client intake to the Foundry Work and Education Program, and work with staff to facilitate client exits from the program and referrals to other community resources.

Direct Service Delivery

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with diverse youth ages 12-24, including those who face barriers to employment and educational pursuits
  • Assesses clients’ interests, skills, abilities and goals as they relate to obtaining and retaining employment, education, or training and identifies barriers to youth’s goals
  • Finds employment opportunities for clients. Contacts potential employers in order to obtain job leads, promote the program and develop relationships.
  • Provides clients with information on employment, education, and training opportunities that are compatible with their interests, skills and goals by analyzing available opportunities and identifying specific tasks to match jobs or programs to clients.
  • Provides support and skill development in areas related to obtaining employment such as job search strategies, job application, resume writing and interview skills.
  • Conducts group sessions such as information sessions, workshops aimed to build skills and knowledge for youth related to employment, education, and training.
  • Offering individualized supports including outreach, advocacy, and resource referral
  • Provides transportation to clients as needed.
  • Develop and monitor individualized service plans
  • Follows up job placements by assisting employers to work with clients through orientation and education. May also troubleshoot individual and systemic issues with participants, employer partners, and relevant supports.

General Administrative

  • Maintains and provides current employment-related information such as labour market information, employment standards regulations and information on other community resources and services.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
