Responsibilities

As the FP&A Manager - Capital Allocation, you’ll be the senior financial presence responsible for providing support and oversight regarding the management, analysis and deployment proposals of capital investments. You’ll work closely with the “Horizons One” (H1) capital team within the North American pellet business as well as with the Drax Group (UK) capital team.

Responsibilities for this role shall include, but not limited to

  • Act as the primary owner of the capital allocation process for North America wood pellet operations.
  • Develop and implement processes to enhance the capital allocation process.
  • Provide financial analysis support to funding requests for strategic capital and enhancement projects. Partner with project managers to evaluate initiatives and review business cases.
  • Maximize the use of Group forecasting and reporting tools to support the management team with strategic planning and decision-making, ensure pellet operations requirements are well understood and included in the ongoing development of tools.
  • Own internal capital tracking and reporting for all North America capital projects (including maintenance, enhancement and growth capital). Provide regular reporting and analysis to support strategic investment decisions.
  • Maintain a KPI framework for monitoring and assessing pellet business performance and progress against achievement of short range and long-term strategic plans.
  • Be a key contributor in the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes.Use analysis of current operations, past trends and seasonality to improve budget templates and drive performance improvements.

What you’ll have…

  • 5+ years of Finance / FP&A experience, preferably in wood products, manufacturing, construction or mining industries.
  • Completed Bachelors of Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering or related degree from a recognized institution.Understanding of financial accounting principles, excellent analytical capabilities and strong process documentation skills.
  • Effective business systems thinker and a good understanding of business process knowledge.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels within and outside the organization.Demonstrated ability to work across functions and geographies – a strong background in a multi-unit organization is beneficial.
  • Experience of dealing with, and presenting to, senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and developing a small team.
  • High level of personal integrity and professionalism. Leads by example as well as an excellent team player.
