Description
This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Min Experience: 8 years Location: India JobType: full-time We are seeking a highly skilled FPGA Lead Engineer with 8–12 years of hands-on experience in FPGA design, development, and verification. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading end-to-end FPGA design projects — from concept and architecture to implementation, verification, and deployment. You will collaborate closely with hardware, software, and system engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and optimized performance of FPGA-based solutions. Key Responsibilities: Lead FPGA Design and Development: Drive complete FPGA design cycles including architecture, RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, place and route, and timing closure. Architectural Ownership: Define system-level architecture and partitioning between hardware, firmware, and software to achieve optimal system performance. Verification and Validation: Develop and execute verification plans, testbenches, and simulation environments to ensure functional correctness and performance compliance. Optimization: Optimize FPGA designs for power, area, and performance constraints. Integration and Debugging: Collaborate with embedded software and hardware teams to integrate FPGA designs into larger system architectures, perform bring-up, and debug issues in lab environments. Toolchain Management: Utilize and manage FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, ModelSim, or Synplify) for efficient development and deployment. Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation, timing reports, and test results for internal and external reviews. Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior FPGA and hardware engineers, promoting best practices and design standards. Continuous Improvement: Evaluate new FPGA technologies, methodologies, and tools to improve design productivity and maintain competitive technical advantage. Required Skills and Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience: 8–12 years of professional experience in FPGA design and development, including at least 2 years in a lead or senior engineering capacity. FPGA Platforms: Strong hands-on experience with Xilinx, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi FPGA families. Design Languages: Expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog, with knowledge of SystemVerilog for verification. Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as TCL, Python, or Perl for design automation and build processes. High-Speed Interfaces: Experience with PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, and other high-speed communication protocols. Verification Tools: Familiarity with ModelSim, QuestaSim, or VCS for simulation and debugging. Timing Analysis: Strong understanding of timing closure, clock domain crossing (CDC), and constraint management. Hardware Debugging: Experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG tools for FPGA validation. Version Control: Experience with configuration management tools like Git, SVN, or Perforce. Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to SoC FPGAs and embedded processors (ARM, MicroBlaze, or Nios II). Experience in signal processing, image processing, or communication systems. Knowledge of hardware-software co-design and embedded C/C++ development. Familiarity with DO-254 or other hardware design certification standards is a plus.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end FPGA design projects, including architecture, implementation, verification, and deployment. Collaborate with hardware, software, and system engineering teams for optimized performance of FPGA-based solutions.
