Fractional Finance & Operations Manager Commitment: ~10-20 Hours Per Week (Fractional / Long-term Contract) Role Type: Remote, US Compensation: $3,000 Monthly Retainer (Based on a ~$100k full-time equivalency) Why This Role? Aside from attending 1-2 regularly scheduled meetings, your weekly schedule is totally up to you. The Mission We are a mission-driven organization looking for a "Swiss Army Knife" professional to manage our financial health and digital infrastructure. As our Fractional Finance & Operations Manager, you wont just be "doing the books" you will be the architect of our back-office systems, ensuring our financial reporting is airtight and our technology is seamless. 1. Financial Stewardship & 501(c)(3) Compliance Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and monthly reconciliations. Fund Accounting: Maintain meticulous tracking of restricted vs. unrestricted funds and grant allocations. The "Clean Close": Execute a comprehensive month-end and year-end close; prepare Statement of Activities and Statement of Financial Position for Executive/ Board review. Audit & Tax Readiness: Act as the primary point of contact for annual audits and tax preparation. 2. IT & People Administration Tech Stack Management: Oversee and troubleshoot our core software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, Monday.com, Squarespace, and a variety of other software tools. Internal Support: Act as the "first responder" for team IT needs (software access, routing payments, and software tech support.. Digital Security: Manage user permissions, password protocols (1Password), and ensure data backups are functional. People ops: post jobs, screen/interview candidates, add/remove teammates from payroll, on/offboard them 3. Operational Efficiency Process Improvement: Evaluate our current workflows and suggest tools or automations to save the team time. Vendor Management: Liaison with accountants, lawyers, insurance brokers, landlords, and software providers.
Responsibilities
This role involves managing the organization's financial health through full-cycle bookkeeping, fund accounting, and ensuring clean month-end/year-end closes, while also overseeing the digital infrastructure and acting as the first responder for team IT needs.
