Description:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in business or life sciences. MBA / Ph.D. desired
- Leadership experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with accountability and a proven track record for delivering on business goals
- Broad commercial experience with demonstrated success across various stages of the brand lifecycle, including pre-launch planning, launch execution, HTA validation, and long-term business planning
- Profound understanding of drug development and commercialization in Oncology
- Solid grasp of ongoing paradigm changes and future trends in healthcare commercialization
- Demonstrated ability to build teams and achieve goals by delivering through others
- Proven experience and knowledge of a broad base of external partners and customers including patients, prescribers, payors, providers and in/out license/alliance partners.
- P&L management experience and ability to build a financial narrative
- Experienced with key regulations in the field of pharmaceutical compliance and commercialization

Responsibilities:
INTRODUCTION TO ROLE
OBU EUCAN region is a key contributor to the continued and future growth of our Oncology business at AstraZeneca. We seek dedicated commercial leadership for our franchises across functions and markets, maximizing the regional potential of our leading Oncology portfolio, delivering commercial excellence in close collaboration with a wide variety of in- and external partners. AZ has been a pioneer in the use of companion diagnostics to support use of precision medicines in oncology. We continue to invest in precision medicine strategies with over thirty development projects that will deliver potential launches in the next 5 years using novel biomarker strategies as a central part of their development plan.
Reporting to the Head of Oncology Switzerland, you are a key leader in the Oncology Business Unit, accountable for leading the commercial development and profitable management of your respective brand/therapeutic area (Lung Cancer) with full accountability for commercialization. You are accountable to drive performance to achieve Brand/TA revenue and financial targets, including appropriate resource planning and managing the Brand P&L. You are a confident leader who will coach, inspire and develop the Commercial team to innovate and compete effectively in-market.
Your direct team includes Marketing and Sales, but you are also responsible for fostering strong cross-functional collaboration across the TA and within the broader Oncology Business Unit. You are a role model of collaborating internally and externally to find novel approaches to create and demonstrate value and improve the patient experience.
YOUR MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:
- Brand Commercialization:
- You are accountable for all aspects of commercial activities, inclusive of insight-driven marketing strategy/execution and field team promotion for your brand/TA that meet brand objectives and improve the patient experience.
- You are accountable for ensuring local market launch readiness for new products and indications within your TA, including focusing the organization on launch execution and delivery, with a drive and passion for winning.
- You are a champion for the evolution of omni-channel and digital strategies and execution within your brand/TA in collaboration with cross-functional partners
- TA/Brand Strategy:
- Lead and deliver brand and franchise strategies delivering industry best plans that are based on robust insights and innovative approaches
- You use strong strategic thinking to assess a range of variables including market trends and opportunities, competition, and research progress to craft compelling near-and long-term commercial strategies.
- You demonstrate the ability to adapt and deliver in an ecosystem where the rapid pace of science, data readouts and regulatory approvals is commonplace and complex healthcare delivery and evolving drug and diagnostic testing payment models exist.
- Business Performance:
- You are accountable for the business performance of your brand/TA as per Phased Budget targets.
- You have full P&L responsibility for your brand/TA and are responsible for ensuring key financial and brand metrics are met.
- You are accountable for using local insights to inform the indication/brand forecasts as part of the annual and mid-term planning cycles, and adjusting Latest View.
- Capabilities & People:
- You lead a team of Sales and Marketing team members and are responsible for ensuring a focus on performance and personal development that is aligned to innovative commercialization, including the capabilities needed to support the evolution in our go-to-market strategy.

- You foster and model cross-functional leadership and ensure alignment of the Sales and Marketing organization with other cross-functional teams (ex. Medical, Access, Diagnostics) to create a disciplined, ambitious, and collaborative business.
- Strategic Projects:
- You are a strategic and experienced business leader who is an active member of the Oncology Leadership Team (OLT), contributing to key initiatives and above-brand projects within the local market. A success criteria of this role is understanding cross-brand and TA dynamics that impact the commercialization of our AZ Oncology pipeline and proactively working with your peers to leverage synergies.
