Description

We’re TransPennine Express and we’re going places. Whether that’s helping customers reach their destination, or ensuring our colleagues feel fulfilled and supported in their careers. We’re looking for people with drive and enthusiasm to join our amazing team and help push for more progress within the rail industry. We look forward to meeting new faces and eager minds, ready to join our mission of creating a better-connected network in the North and Scotland, for good.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a flexible and adaptable individual with demonstrable experience of conducting complex investigative work, ideally within the rail industry.

As a minimum you will need:

  • Experience of understanding and interpreting large datasets
  • Ingenuity and persistence
  • The ability to work to deadlines, be adaptable and prioritise workloads
  • An ability to work within a team as well as autonomously
  • Good organisational skills to manage a high volume of cases
  • Honesty with ethical working practices and high levels of integrity and confidentiality
  • The ability to travel across the network, sometimes at short notice, in order to meet business needs
  • A keen eye for detail
  • An excellent standard of both verbal and written communication
  • To be proactive and identify areas for improvement, as well as the ability to react quickly to new emerging needs
Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Fraud & Investigations Lead, the Fraud Investigator will carry out physical and digital investigations to identify fraud and recover monies owed to support TransPennine Express’ highly functional Debt Recovery & Prosecutions Department.
You will work closely with the Revenue Protection department to both proactively and reactively identify fraud and will conduct investigations using all available technology. By using intelligence driven data, you will physically and remotely track individuals who are suspected of committing fraudulent activity on the rail network.
You will conduct interviews with suspects and build court documentation for the Prosecutions Team to bring offenders to justice. As a natural problem solver, you will work closely with other members of the wider Debt Recovery & Prosecutions and Revenue Protection Departments to identify unusual customer behaviour.
You’ll have a keen eye for detail, as well as a progressive attitude to new and modern ways of working. As an expert in fraud investigations, you’ll constantly review our fraud activity and identify new and emerging trends, enabling TransPennine Express to reduce fraud and ticketless travel and deliver value to taxpayers.
