Responsibilities

We are looking for a freelance consultant with tech-enabled ventures expertise to add value to clients and partners in the Africa and MENA regions. This consultancy assignment is linked to the European Commission funded Ventures TA Facility, which will be implemented until March 2027. Expressions of Interest from candidates will be assessed and shortlisted applicants will be invited to tender for the assignment through a PRAG compliant procedure.
As a freelance consultant, you will lead the initiation, monitoring, and completion of investee strengthening and community engagement activities.

Key deliverables include:

  • Investee Strengthening:
  • 13 projects in the active portfolio monitored and completed, including disbursements of approximately EUR 195k.
  • EUR 633k of unallocated component budget committed and disbursed to achieve program targets, including supporting fund managers and direct investee companies in incorporating ESG and impact investment practices, and addressing specific business needs.
  • Community Engagement:
  • 6 active projects monitored and completed including disbursements of approximately EUR 212k
  • EUR 634k of unallocated component budget committed and disbursed to support entrepreneurial VC ecosystem players, organize events, and assist investee companies through these engagements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure TA/advisory projects and grants are designed, administered, monitored, and completed in alignment with the European Commission Contribution Agreement and FMO’s mission.
  • Maintain quality day-to-day management of project activities, including planning, budgeting, risk management, disbursements, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders.
  • Follow public procurement processes to select service providers, including setting criteria and coordinating evaluations.
  • Ensure timely reporting ahead of program closure in March 2027, including reports to the European Commision on the TAF.
