HR SPECIALIST

Responsible to: HR and Business Development Manager
Contract: consultant – self-employed (£20 to 25 per hour)
Hours: Part-time 16 to 24 hours per week
Location: Hybrid (Home Working and W14 0DT)

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS:

  • Provide support to staff and managers on UK employment law and charity policies.
  • Assist or lead investigations and disciplinary actions as necessary. Seeking support from Peninsula and HR Manager where appropriate.
  • Conduct assessments for staff and manage access to work requirements.
  • Chair monthly staff forums to encourage engagement and communication.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in HR roles (officer, administrator, etc.).
  • Familiarity with HR functions like recruitment and training.
  • Solid understanding of UK employment law.
  • Proficient in MS Office; HRMS experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent training, ideally with HR credentials (CIPD Level 3 or above).

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable delivering online training and support.
Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems, the HR officer will provide guidance to staff and line managers on employee relations matters, with a strong emphasis on staff training and development to enhance employees’ skills and career progression throughout their employment journey. The HR specialist will maintain an excellent knowledge of charity policies and procedures, terms and conditions, UK employment law, and HR best practices. Ensuring the continuous improvement of training programmes that align with organisational goals.
