For more information about the University, please visit https://www.hkmu.edu.hk We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences: Major Duties and Responsibilities The Instructor of Cantonese Opera will be responsible for teaching short classes of Cantonese opera to students at various elementary and secondary schools. Duties include conducting Cantonese opera workshops at different schools, instructing students about the art of Cantonese opera, and fostering an appreciation for this traditional performing art. The position requires a solid foundation in Cantonese opera and a strong passion for education. The objectives of such short classes are: · Develop and design Cantonese opera courses, including the creation of appropriate teaching content and methods. · Instruct students in the techniques and knowledge of Cantonese opera, while fostering their cultural literacy. Candidates Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: · The applicant should have a specialization in Cantonese opera performance; · Applicants should have at least 5 years of experience teaching Cantonese opera-related courses/ classes/ workshops; · Experience working with students in an educational or community setting is highly desirable; · Strong interpersonal and communication skills at a high level; · The successful candidates will be required to undergo Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC). Terms and Conditions for Appointment A successful candidate will be appointed as a freelancer for Ina Ho Cantonese Opera Research on a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal based on good performance and mutual agreement.
