UWCSEA Dover seeks qualified candidates for the position of freelance Music Instructor - BRASS [IEC] from September 2025. There may be the possibility to start earlier depending on student demand. All specialisms are welcome to apply. The ability to offer a range of brass instruments would be a distinct advantage.
This candidate reports directly to the ITP Coordinator on Dover Campus. The position will be involved with delivering individual and paired instrumental lessons in the Instrumental Teaching Programme (ITP). There may also be opportunities to further support our ensemble activities and our introductory lesson programme for suitable candidates.
United World College South East Asia, Instrumental Teaching Programme, aims to develop the full potential in all our student instrumentalists and vocalists.

Main Responsibilities

  • Strong ability in delivering individual and paired lessons to students of all abilities and ages.
  • Support healthy technique and instruction in a variety of styles ranging from classical, pop, rock, and jazz.
  • Provide highest teaching standards – planning and preparing lessons in relation to individual students’ needs and examination syllabuses.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements as required.
  • Liaising with parents, ITP Coordinator, and Music Department members regarding student progress and attainment.
  • To think creatively to provide innovative lessons that are engaging, fun, and challenging.
  • To work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and other UWCSEA team members.
  • Supporting student performances and recitals throughout the year.
  • A good understanding of the health and safety requirements of working as a musician.

Person Specifications

  • Music qualification or an equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience
  • Experience in delivering music lessons to students in a school or similar environment.
  • Well-organized and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with other staff members in the college
  • To demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students and members of the UWCSEA community.
