REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree or diploma in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Certification in teaching special needs students or experience working with children with learning or developmental disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of special education strategies, individualised teaching approaches, and inclusive learning techniques.
  • Previous experience in tutoring or teaching primary and/or secondary subjects to children with learning difficulties.
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach to teaching.
  • Ability to develop creative and effective ways of teaching core subjects and making learning enjoyable.
  • A passion for making a positive impact on the lives of children with special needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one academic instruction in primary and/or secondary subjects tailored to the individual needs of students with learning or special needs.
  • Develop and implement customised lesson plans, using strategies that align with each student’s learning style, abilities, and goals.
  • Support students in areas such as literacy, numeracy, language development, or subject-specific content, adjusting methods as needed to overcome challenges.
  • Use specialised teaching techniques and resources to support students with conditions such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), or other learning difficulties.
  • Track student progress and regularly assess performance, adapting teaching methods to ensure consistent improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on the student’s academic progress and strategies for continued learning support at home.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including therapists or counsellors, to ensure a holistic approach to the student’s development.
  • Create an engaging and encouraging learning environment that boosts confidence, motivation, and independence in students.
