Newstalk Ireland’s fastest-growing independent talk radio station is seeking radio producers to join our freelance panel. We with a weekly reach of 861,000 people across 26 counties. The station is now the country’s second most-listened-to station every day, with over half a million daily listeners.
We’re looking for experienced, creative and ambitious freelance producers.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Newstalk is recruiting for experienced, creative and ambitious freelance producers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Play a leading role in all aspects of daily production for the show
  • Help develop the editorial vision for the programme and implement accordingly
  • Generate and develop creative, original and new ideas for the programme 
  • Produce live in studio and build a good working relationship with the presenter
  • Book guests and collate briefing material for the presenter.
  • React to breaking news quickly and in an appropriate manner
  • Direct, nurture and develop researchers and reporters working with the programme
  • Edit and create imaginative audio pieces for the programme
  • Secure the best guests and on-air exclusives for the programme
  • Produce regular outside broadcasts
  • Work with Senior Editors and the News, Sport and Digital teams to set the agenda for the station on the key issues of public debate and maximise the impact of content
  • Take a proactive part in regular station editorial meetings and input into cross station initiatives
  • Other duties as required

  • You have shown strong leadership qualities in previous roles
  • You have excellent knowledge of defamation law and Comisiún na Mean Codes of Conduct
  • You have a broad range of interests and follow news, politics, sport, business, celebrity news, social issues and everything in between
  • You are proficient in recording and editing and the workings of digital and social media
  • You’re a self-starter and are driven by ambition to succeed
  • You have an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and to deadlines
