Description
The Freeze Dry Operator - Freeze Dry has primary responsibility for ensuring that all product is undertaken and executed according to established specifications that include emphasis on quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness, in Petsource manufacturing facility. This position is required to load, start, and monitor Rays(Freeze Driers) on a regular basis and to ensure timely communication with the Freeze Dry Maintenance Team, and Freeze Dry Supervisor regarding system issues or concerns. This position supports company initiatives to achieve goals and objectives set Petsource. * Consult with the Freeze Dry Supervisor to determine scheduled production runs and associated production requirements * Closely monitor Ray system and screens to ensure chambers are running adequately * Operate automated and manual Freeze Dry equipment in a safe and efficient manner * Remove Freeze Dried load and unload product from freeze dry chambers, sample and prepare for storage or packaging. * May perform duties in Freeze Dry Forming as needed * Conduct visual inspection to control any burned, high moisture, or discolored product which does not meet set specifications * Process all required paperwork and maintain timely and accurate records for reporting purposes according to established practices and procedures and properly use and maintain the department’s inventory tracking system * Develop and maintain successful professional working relationships, including good communication practices, with relevant Production Department staff, and Maintenance Department * Maintain a neat and organized work area according to established policies, procedures and safety regulations * Develop awareness and understanding of the company’s policies, practices and procedures related to health and safety, food safety and the environment and commit to personal compliance with same * Perform other duties as assigned     In performing their responsibilities, employees are expected to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision, interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers, work effectively as a team contributor and independently while understanding the necessity for communication with other employees and throughout Petsource. Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED * 2-3 years’ experience operating food processing machinery preferred * Mechanical aptitude and adept with tools and equipment, including ability to safely operate Freeze Dry System * Strong sense of logic and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in all areas of work * Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to accurately complete required paperwork * Good interpersonal skills with ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team * Lift to 60 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively throughout a 10 - 12-hour shift * This position will be required to work frequently indoors in a cooled sanitary environment with temperatures 45 degrees or below. * Frequently around loud production equipment.
