Job Summary
As a Global Logistics Inbound Freight Analyst, you will lead global efforts to provide comprehensive visibility into inbound transportation freight spending. Beyond developing and managing a centralized Power BI based tool, your role includes identifying and integrating relevant data sources, collaborating closely with finance teams to define freight accruals and cost-to P&L methodologies, and partnering with regional logistics teams to understand taxes structures, carrier billing practices, and supplier compliance. You will drive proactive cost insights—ensuring that anomalies in freight rates are detected in real time rather than discovered months later—enabling faster financial closing and improved strategic decision making.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Identify, integrate, and validate multiple inbound freight data sources—including ERP, TMS, carrier invoices, audit outputs, and regional accrual reports—for centralized analysis.
Work with finance to define freight accrual logic, GL codes, landed cost allocation rules, and ensure freight spend is accurately mapped into Cost of Goods Sold or expense lines.
Translate duties and taxes, accessorial charges, and contract rates into real-time cost views, reducing reliance on retrospective invoice posting that often arrives weeks or months late
Build and maintain the Power BI inbound freight visibility dashboard, automating reporting of spend-to-budget, spend-by-region/carrier, international/drayage cost per unit, and freight to revenue ratios.
Collaborate with global regions to align and standardize taxes/duties structures, rate negotiation outcomes, and suppliers’ compliance with routing guides to reduce inbound cost leakage
Enable exception alerts within the dashboard for anomalies such as over billing, non-compliant carrier booking, split shipments, or unexpected surcharges
Document transformation rules, assumptions, freight pricing logic, and governance frameworks to ensure clarity and version control.
Educate stakeholders (logistics, finance, procurement, regional teams) on freight spend visibility models, cost drivers, and how shipping cost flows into the P&L.
Integrate inbound freight insights with broader logistics performance tools—including Load Factor, Carrier Scorecards, and Savings Tracker—for cohesive strategic optimization.
Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Computer Science, or related field.
At least 5 years of experience in logistics cost management, transportation finance, supply chain, data & analytics and/or operations.
Experience in freight spend analysis, cost accruals, and understanding of how freight flows into COGS/P&L.
Problems to Solve and Key Challenges
Consolidating fragmented inbound freight data - often supplier-originated and outside internal TMS scope - into a reliable and unified analytics framework
Ensuring alignment between regional billing practices, taxes/duties structures, and global cost allocation frameworks, to support timely financial accruals.
Detecting cost deviations early, prior to invoice arrival, so that cost outliers or supplier non-compliance can be addressed proactively.
Driving adoption and alignment of visibility tools and accrual methods across finance, operations, sourcing, and regional logistics teams.
Continuously improving dashboards and alert mechanisms to ensure both strategic insight and operational usability.
Key Metrics
Global inbound freight spend (including base and accessorial costs)
Detention & demurrage (D&D), others accessorial tracking
Consolidation Center Spend tracking
Transportation productivity and cost efficiency metrics
