ROLE OVERVIEW

As a member of the Port team, you will have a key role to play in ensuring that we deliver an amazing experience to all our customers, whether they are islanders, visitors from the UK or overseas or commercial customers.
You will also have key safety and security duties - assisting with maintenance of the store area, traffic management and any other duties as required by the Port Manager, as well as making sure our ports meet our customers’ expectations by undertaking various tidy up duties.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Stores, Freight & Waste Handling:

• Delivery of stores to vessel
• Waste handling and processing of vessel waste
• Organising special waste uplifts
• Receiving and logging freight deliveries
• Communicating with vessels and other departments

Maintenance and Cleaning:

• General upkeep and maintenance of the store area, including cleaning
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Maintaining food hygiene standards through compliance checks and accurate record keeping

Equipment Operation:

• Operating equipment such as forklifts and vans and carrying out compliance checks and pre-use checks

Security and Safety:

• Remaining vigilant and reporting concerns around the safety and security of personnel and property to the Port Manager
• Dealing with the marshalling of traffic into the Port area
• Any other duties as required by the Port Manager
