OVERVIEW

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating the movement of freight by connecting shippers with carriers. You will leverage your strong negotiation skills and industry knowledge to build relationships, manage accounts, and ensure timely delivery of goods. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

SKILLS

• Strong understanding of freight brokerage processes and logistics operations.
• Excellent account management skills with a focus on building long-term customer relationships.
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively with carriers while maintaining competitive pricing for clients.
• Experience in inside sales or sales-related roles within the transportation or logistics industry is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with third-party logistics (3PL) services is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills for managing multiple accounts simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain relationships with customers and carriers to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
• Manage the entire freight brokerage process from initial inquiry through delivery, including tracking shipments and resolving issues as they arise.
• Negotiate rates with carriers to secure competitive pricing while ensuring profitability for the company.
• Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools to manage accounts and maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to streamline operations and improve service quality within the supply chain.
• Conduct data entry tasks related to shipment details, customer information, and carrier agreements.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in freight brokerage and logistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FREIGHT BROKER (OPERATING) AGENT:

• Prospect for new customers.
• Source carriers and providers for your customers.
• Book your customers’ shipments in our Transportation Management System (TMS), track deliveries, and ensure carriers provide Proof of Delivery (POD).
• Maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Collect commissions.
