FREIGHT FORWARDING OPERATIONS SPECIALIST/SUPERVISOR

Our client company is seeking a Freight Forwarding Operations Specialist or Supervisor to join their team in Phoenix or Scottsdale, Arizona. This role is 100% on-site, with tentative working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday (weekends and holidays off).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: 3+ years in freight forwarding, shipping, receiving, and import/export operations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Proven experience with DOT regulations, hazmat labeling, and filing IMO, AES, and ISF documents. Knowledge of 49 CFR, 15 CFR, IATA, and IMDG is preferred. Global shipping/customs clearance experience is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with UPS/FedEx software and basic proficiency in MS Office/Google Workspace.
  • Soft Skills: A quick learner, adept at multitasking in time-constrained environments, with strong communication (written/verbal), time management, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Education: University/college degree is an asset.
  • Languages: Business-level proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese (or another Asian language) is required.

Responsibilities

You’ll be crucial in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant logistics operations. Key duties include:

  • Executing daily logistics activities: Safely and efficiently performing assigned processes, tracking shipments, and coordinating with various stakeholders (customer service, quality, etc.).
  • Hazardous material (Hazmat) management: Overseeing handling, documentation, and compliance with domestic and international regulations (e.g., DOT, IATA, IMDG).
  • Operational oversight: Compiling carrier/route assignments, negotiating expenses, and ensuring “Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time” principles.
  • Supervisor specific duties: For Supervisors, additional responsibilities include managing subcontractor relationships and improving operational efficiency.
