The Freight Operations Coordinator is a boots-on-the-ground logistics problem solver responsible for keeping trucks, trailers, and freight moving cleanly across Columbia Valley Freight’s regional network. This role brings structure, admin precision, and real-time coordination to our full truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), and final mile freight operations.
You’ll partner with dispatchers, drivers, and terminal staff to solve routing issues, coordinate trailer staging, and execute day-to-day freight movements with zero swirl. This is a hands-on freight operations role—not a desk job.
Key ResponsibilitiesTrailer and Load Flow Execution
- Maintain and update the daily trailer board with live changes to assignments, staging, and returns
- Assist in the sequencing of trailer drops and pickups to support regional freight operations
- Oversee trailer and dock sequencing to ensure trucks are loaded, staged, and rolling on time
Driver & Dispatch Liaison
- Serve as the primary freight-side point of contact for drivers during shifts, escalating only when necessary
- Proactively troubleshoot routing and equipment issues during handoffs or trailer switches
- Coordinate end-of-day handoffs and shift notes to maintain freight flow across terminals
Administrative & System Support
- Maintain daily freight flow records, trailer usage logs, and driver route sheets to ensure clean billing and tracking
- Track and report equipment usage, rental allocations, and trailer availability
- Conduct regular Hours of Service (HOS) log reviews to ensure driver compliance
- Assist in compiling and reviewing operational reports for freight movement performance
Process Improvement & Accountability
- Identify inefficiencies in freight flow and propose real-time SOPs or routing fixes
- Help coach drivers on freight handling standards, ConnectTeam workflows, and trailer documentation
- Escalate and document known issues with timelines and suggested resolution paths
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 2–5 years of experience in freight, trucking, or dispatch operations
- Strong admin and documentation skills—you keep trailer records and freight flow tight
- Calm under pressure and a natural communicator with drivers and dispatchers
- Can read a dock, a trailer board, and a routing schedule like a playbook
- Experience with ConnectTeam, Google Sheets, or comparable dispatch tech
Success Metrics (KPI-Aligned)
- 100% trailer board accuracy by 8:00 AM for on-time trailer assignments and dispatch readiness
- 48-hour turnaround on equipment status reports and driver assignments
- <5% error rate on route sheets submitted for billing
- Zero “known-issue escalations” without action or communication
