Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our diverse team of professionals as a Grade KG- 7 Elementary School Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality education that caters to the individual needs and abilities of our students. This role requires a deep understanding of various teaching methodologies, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the BC curriculum and educational standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of individual students and groups.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes inquisitive thinking and self-exploration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and projects that integrate various subject areas.
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to create a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students to support their academic growth and development.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices.
  • Foster strong partnerships with families, the Sikh temple, and the wider community to support students’ holistic growth.

Qualifications:

  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by BC Ministry of Education.
  • Understanding of different teaching methodologies and multiple intelligences.
  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to teaching in a diverse environment.

School Values and Beliefs:

  • Teachers are required to cover their heads with a bandana while on school property, field trips, and professional development days.
  • Teachers are required to bring vegetarian snacks and lunches (no meat, egg, or fish) while on school premises and during school hours.

Language Requirement:

  • English proficiency is required.
