The Opportunity: We are seeking a French teacher with Primary Years Programme (PYP) experience to work in our Junior School beginning the 2026-27 academic year on a full-time, permanent basis. In a community where social-emotional learning is a priority, the successful candidate will collaborate with a passionate and committed team, working closely with the Head of the Junior School, Assistant Heads of the Junior School and PYP Coordinators. Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to: * Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth; * Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each student’s ability;  * Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members; * Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB, CEFR and Ministry of Education curriculum, ensuring differentiation;  * Develop culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive French educational curriculum for diverse learners; * Plan and deliver French units of study and assess  students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6; * Develop course outlines, unit plans and lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of PYP, with a focus on inquiry-based learning; * Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IB and school guidelines; * Provide feedback to students and communicate information regularly to colleagues and parents regarding student progress, including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings; * Stay current with developments in the subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities; * Participate actively in faculty and division meetings and meet regularly with all course teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum. * Assume responsibility for and participate in coaching, co-curricular activities and supervision duties.  Candidate Profile: * Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; * Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with Junior/Primary division qualifications in French as a second language; * Minimum three teaching experience in the French language preferred; * Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset; * Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices; * Relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice; * Proficient with  relevant technology and digital tools * Adept to use electronic communication to correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;  * Belief in and alignment with Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values: * Passionate about teaching and being in service of students and the community; * Possess strong oral and written communication skills in French and English. * Ability to work independently with little direct supervision and be a collaborative team member. Target Hiring Range:  Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined based upon years of applicable teaching experience, level of education completed, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $70,903.08 – $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of applicable experience and $101,615.33 – $134,998.82 for more than 6 years of applicable experience.
