Job Summary The Fresh Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Bakery, Deli, Meat, and Produce departments. Through collaboration with department managers and effective staff training and motivation, this role will ensure operational excellence, a positive and productive work environment, and achievement of the company's financial, operational, and customer service goals. Key Responsibilities Leadership &Team Management: Supervise, lead, and support department managers for Bakery, Deli, Meat, and Produce. Ensure all departments are staffed effectively with well-trained, motivated employees. Manage schedules, oversee staff performance, and foster a positive, productive work environment. Conduct regular performance reviews for department managers and provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. Promote employee engagement and create a culture of excellence, teamwork, and customer-focused service. Department Operations & Product Management: Oversee daily operations of all departments to ensure product quality, freshness, and visual appeal. Work with department managers to develop production and inventory schedules that meet customer demand while minimizing waste. Ensure consistent execution of product rotation, replenishment, and maintenance of proper stock levels. Collaborate with marketing to develop new product offerings, seasonal promotions, and special events. Evaluate sales trends and adjust department strategies to maximize profitability and enhance customer satisfaction. Customer Service & Sales: Ensure a high level of customer service in all perishables departments, ensuring staff are equipped to assist customers with product knowledge, recommendations, and concerns. Collaborate with marketing and department managers to develop merchandising strategies, displays, and seasonal offerings that attract customers and increase sales. Regularly engage with customers to gather feedback, enhance the shopping experience, and build loyalty. Inventory & Ordering: Monitor inventory levels across all perishables departments and ensure that stock levels are adequate to meet customer demand. Work with department managers to place orders efficiently, minimize spoilage, and manage costs. Implement and ensure compliance with FIFO (first-in, first-out) inventory practices. Track shrinkage and waste, developing strategies to minimize loss across departments. Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all perishables departments comply with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation, and storage practices. Conduct regular safety audits to ensure staff are following safety protocols and that equipment is in working order. Maintain a clean and safe work environment for both customers and employees. Financial Management & Budgeting: Oversee financial performance across all perishables departments, ensuring alignment with budgetary goals. Monitor labor costs, inventory expenses, and department shrinkage, making adjustments to stay within budget. Work with suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing and ensure cost-effective ordering and inventory management. Track and report on department financial performance, including sales, costs, and profit margins. Collaboration & Department Development: Collaborate with store managers, marketing teams, and other departments to align goals and initiatives. Attend planning meetings, contribute ideas for strategic direction, and ensure that department goals are aligned with overall store objectives. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, customer preferences, and emerging product offerings to keep the departments fresh and competitive. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements, training, and operational efficiency across departments. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in Windows, Google Business Suite, and other basic computer applications. Excellent understanding of inventory management, product ordering, and financial oversight. Knowledge of food safety and health regulations. Strong customer service and relationship-building skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. Occasional exposure to cold and hot temperatures, cleaning chemicals, and machinery. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Requires regular bending, reaching, crouching, and kneeling.
