POSITION OVERVIEW

The Receptionist is the first point of contact for clients at our dog boarding, grooming, and daycare facility. This role requires excellent customer service skills, strong communication, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, pet-friendly environment. The Receptionist ensures a smooth check-in and check-out process for pets and their owners while supporting the overall operations of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Previous receptionist or customer service experience preferred (experience in veterinary, grooming, or pet care setting a plus).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Comfortable using scheduling software and handling electronic payments.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous in a busy environment.
  • Love of animals and comfort interacting with dogs of all sizes and temperaments.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Saturday availability is required.
  • Ability to handle occasional lifting of pets and pet supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to a busy environment with barking dogs and pet dander.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $15.50 - $20.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

  • Greet clients and pets warmly upon arrival and create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage reservations/appointments for boarding, grooming, and daycare services.
  • Accurately maintain client and pet records in the facility management system.
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and handle billing inquiries.
  • Provide clients with information about services, pricing, and policies.
  • Communicate pet care instructions clearly to staff.
  • Ensure proper check-in/out procedures, including vaccination verification and waivers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area.
  • Assist with light administrative duties (filing, data entry, scheduling reminders).
  • Collaborate with the grooming and kennel teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
