FRONT DESK SPECIALIST I JOB DESCRIPTION Provides office support to include a variety of clerical activities and uses outstanding customer service skills to greet and assist patients. CLASSIFICATION  Non-Exempt REPORTS TO Practice Manager ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES  1. Welcome patients and visitors to the office by greeting in person and on the telephone; answers inquiries or refers questions to the appropriate staff member 2.  Schedule appointments to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective utilization of examining and treatment rooms 3. Responsible for obtaining patient demographics and verifying insurance information at each visit 4. Perform patient check in/out 5. Collect all insurance copays, balances and uninsured payments at the time of service 6. Maintain individual bank and prepare end of day report to management for balancing and sign off daily 7. Process payment plan agreements 8.  Control all patient access beyond lobby 9. Maintain waiting room and front desk area in neat and orderly condition 10.  Maintain knowledge of all health forms required for each visit and verification of storage in EMR 11.  Provide positive customer relations in dealing with patients, families, providers, members of the healthcare team, and others 12. Regular & prompt attendance on agreed upon daily and weekly start and end time.  13.  Assist with clinical inboxes as needed 14.  Other duties as assigned EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE  Required 1. High school diploma or equivalent Preferred 1. One year of customer service experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS  This job will require exposure to patient elements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May work in a noisy or distracting environment. This job will require exposure to patient elements. EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK The core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but can vary depending on location. This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on location.
