Broadwater Café — Barista / Café Manager We are seeking a passionate, motivated, and friendly Café Manager to help grow Broadwater Café into a welcoming space where people feel valued and respected. We operate on Christian principles of love, humility, service, and integrity, seeking to serve not just coffee, but kindness and community. Broadwater Café is a key part of the vision of the owners to see community outreach to take place as we work towards a thriving, healthy and connected community. Hours: Casual/Part-time to start, with a 3-month probation period. Potential to move into a full-time role.
Shifts: Monday–Sunday (6:30am – 4:00pm)
Salary: Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Function & Role:
You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Broadwater Café, leading the team with professionalism, warmth, and a passion for excellence. Your role is to ensure a smooth, high-quality customer experience while managing staff performance, upholding standards, and helping to create a welcoming environment where both team members and customers feel valued and cared for. You will work closely with ownership to drive the café’s growth, foster a positive team culture, and maintain operational efficiency. The Lead Manager will play a key role in training, motivating, and supporting both front-of-house and kitchen teams to deliver consistent, exceptional service. This role requires hands-on leadership, attention to detail,marketing experience and a heart for building community through hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the café

    Train and support staff and volunteers in coffee making, food prep, and customer service Coordinate vendor orders and stock supplies (coffee, milk, takeaway cups, etc.)

  • Maintain records of daily, weekly, and monthly revenue and expenses

  • Develop new menu items based on seasonality and customer preferences
  • Resolve customer issues with professionalism and care
  • Keep the café clean, tidy, and inviting
  • Assist with promotions and local advertising
  • Ensure workplace health and safety policies are followed
  • Build friendly relationships with customers to foster loyalty and a positive reputation
  • Lead the team with a focus on integrity, hospitality, and excellence

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a café supervisor or senior barista
  • Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines
  • Good math skills and ability to manage cash and POS systems
  • Availability to work within opening hours
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills
  • A warm, welcoming customer service attitude
  • Eye for detail and ability to manage workflow efficiently
  • Willingness to learn and grow with the café
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to help grow the business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Barista
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)

Pay: $53,161.93 – $78,894.20 per year
