SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Communicate in Spanish – oral and in writing.

  • Provide translation and interpretive services in Spanish
  • Provide for health care needs of students.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In a 3-4 hour day the Front Office Assistant/Family Liaison may:

  • Stand/walk – 3 – 4 hours
  • Sit - 2 – 4 hours
  • Bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs or ladders
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds. May, after appropriate training and following approved methods, also require the ability to physically intervene with assistance 50 to 100 lbs.
  • Requires continuous reaching, bending, crouching, twisting, kneeling and the repetitive use of arms, hands, wrists and legs.

The Front Office Assistant/Family Liaison will need:

  • Near/far visual acuity, depth perception. unaffected field of vision, unaffected hearing, ability to talk/converse and the ability to evacuate students from classrooms/building

Responsibilities
  • Assists students, staff, teachers, parents and community members (e.g. applications for services, interpreting technical information, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or conveying information and other services required by parents or teachers.
  • Communicates with parents on behalf of school (e.g. attendance and homework issues, available programs/services, completing paperwork, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that an ongoing partnership between the home and school is healthy and complete.
  • Develops relationships with students and families.
  • Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic lists and records (e.g. activity logs, phone logs, community resources, caseload notes around attendance interventions, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing up-to-date reference and audit trail and/or ensuring the availability of items.
  • Refers students and their families to outside agencies (e.g. state agencies, medical professionals, counselors, foundations, charities, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the needs of students and families are met.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. parents, students, teachers, staff, outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction as may be required.
  • Identifies school and family needs.
  • Administers medication to students.
  • Administers first aid and medical assistance for the purpose of providing appropriate/emergency care for children.
  • Assists parents for the purpose of enrolling students and reporting attendance.
  • Maintains office equipment.
  • Performs basic clerical functions, scheduling, copying, mailings, etc. for the purpose of supporting the staff.
  • Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (i.e., discipline, accidents, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to teachers and administration
