Job Details Job Location: Tipton Plant - Tipton, CA 93272 Position Type: Union Education Level: High School Salary Range: $20.17 - $22.41 Hourly Job Category: QA - Quality Control Job Summary The Fruit Tester Lead is the primary person responsible for the daily maintenance of the information pertaining to incoming fruit loads that are provided by the Fruit Tester Team that is entered into CitrOS/SAGE. The Fruit Tester Lead also is responsible for the approval/disapproval and reporting of all Rejected Loads when the Fruit Supervisor is not on site. Primary Responsibilities Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor or the supervisor in charge during their shift. Complete a daily mobile inventory of the fruit loads that are present in the Tipton Yard, correcting all relevant information as needed, including Placard #s, trailer #s, fruit variety information and the status and availability of Rejected Loads.to be removed from the yard. Enter all Scotts Oil information into the Portal for the Berkels that have been completed in the previous 24 hours. Review all analytical testing data daily that is in SAGE and the PORTAL for accuracy including a daily in-depth analysis of the Fruit Receiving Audit Report. Perform basic maintenance on all laboratory equipment as needed. Notify the Laboratory Supervisor when laboratory supplies need to be ordered. Be the contact person for the JBT Technician who performs the daily morning maintenance on the Test Extractor. Be the contact person during his/her shift for the other members of the Fruit Tester Team and be the responder through emails for the other members of the Team who are on 2nd and 3rd shifts. When an increase in fruit delivery volume demands it, help the on-shift Fruit Tester extract all fresh fruit samples and analyze them in a timely manner and input all analytical information into CitrOS/Sage with accuracy and speed, which would include the typical product testing for brix, acidity and pH. Inform the Sanitation Supervisor when the Test Extractor is due for a deep cleaning and arrange the time for this. Be sure that all members of the Fruit Testing Team follow all lock-out tag-out rules and procedures concerning the Test Extractor. Train all new Fruit Testers in all aspects of the Fruit Tester position, including the receiving of fruit loads, the fruit squeezing procedure, the laboratory testing of the juice samples, the process of making and testing a Berkel sample. and the entry of analytical data into the Portal. Report non-standard conditions or anomalies to the Fresh Fruit Supervisor immediately. Be the primary contact person for the Fruit Tester Team when the Fruit Supervisor is not on site. This would include the times when the Fruit Supervisor is not present due to illness or vacation and report to the Quality Manager any issues that arise that may need his/her attention during these times. This would include the approval/disapproval and handling of all communications concerning incoming fruit loads that need to be designated as Rejected Loads, Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment. Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices. Act professionally toward co-workers, customers, vendors, or other visitors to the plant. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Proficient with Sage/ CitrOS. Ability to operate the Test Extractor in a safe and competent manner. Ability to operate laboratory equipment such as: auto-titrator, refractometer, and pH meter. Physical Requirements The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, and move about a laboratory and production facilities in normal ambient temperatures. Some lifting of up to 30 lbs. may be required. 50% walking, climbing stairs and ladders in a plant environment; 50% normal office environment at a desk or working at a computer terminal. 30% Lifting fruit bins of 30lbs into extractor. 5% Cleaning of the extractor. 30% Routine Laboratory analysis. 20% Computer data entry. 15% Walking, auditing facility.
