POSITION SUMMARY The FSQ Technician supports the Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Manager to ensure Abby’s meets all food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and regulatory requirements. This role conducts daily inspections, verifies compliance, assists with internal and third-party audits, performs cleaning validations, and trains staff on FSQ policies and procedures. The FSQ Technician plays a mission-critical role in maintaining the integrity of our production environment, protecting our customers, and supporting a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Reports to: Food Safety & Quality Manager (FSQ) Schedule: Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, within a 24/7 operation FOOD SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE Verify HACCP, GMPs, and food safety compliance throughout all departments. Conduct routine FSQ inspections and document results meticulously. Perform cleaning verification using ATP swabs and other testing tools; document corrective actions. Assist FSQ Manager with preparation for third-party, customer, and regulatory audits. Identify and report food safety issues immediately to management. Review FSQ documents for completeness and accuracy. Verify batch recipes, working tools, and scale usage for compliance. Ensure all staff follow Abby’s safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards. TRACEABILITY, RECORDS & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Maintain logs and documentation for traceability, deviations, and corrective actions. Collect and analyze data to support FSQ reporting and regulatory requirements. Support initiatives that reduce waste, improve workflow, and strengthen food safety standards. Collaborate with production teams to minimize overproduction and ensure proper FIFO practices. Assist with employee FSQ training and ongoing food safety education. EQUIPMENT & FACILITY SUPPORT Report maintenance issues related to equipment, facility conditions, or sanitation. Verify that production tools, scales, and stations are clean, sanitized, and properly maintained. Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) throughout operations. Experience in food safety, quality, or production compliance. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work in a cold environment (41°F cold room) for extended periods. Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish required for verbal communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent knowledge of hygiene standards and food handling practices. Valid Food Protection Manager Certificate (e.g., ServSafe). Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Airline catering experience is a plus. Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available). WORK ENVIRONMENT Cold-room production setting (41°F). Fast-paced, high-volume aviation catering operation. Standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift. Exposure to food production equipment, chemicals, and high-traffic areas.
