Position Summary: This position is an introduction and comprehensive development of an individual’s training in FSQA SOPs, programs, and standards to ensure employees understand each program’s function and proper maintenance. The training will focus on gaining a thorough understanding of the responsibilities and expectations of all aspects of food safety and quality assurance standards at Upper Iowa Beef. This position involves working on the production floor developing knowledge and skills of General food safety oversight, Animal Human Handling, HAACP procedures, product specifications, GMPs, Internal Auditing, and record keeping.    * Title: FSQA Management Trainee * Pay Range: Based on current pay schedule and experience. * Schedule: Based on current production needs (M-F) * Reports to: FSQA department leadership   Extended learning goals include monitoring the production floor and developing knowledge of: * Plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and apply knowledge to production floors. * Slaughter and Fabrication HACCP programs and ensuring proper documentation.  * Maintaining and analyzing database information and records to assist with problem solving  * Continue to Develop and strengthen quality and operational efficiency * Conducting product quality attribute audits and improving auditing procedures. * Collaborating with customer service and production teams to meet new product specifications, yields, and follow up on data collected to ensure adherence to customer requirements. * Overseeing product quality metrics, including grade, presentation, bloom time, temperature, and camera data. * Monitoring critical processes in slaughter and fabrication, including foot camera data, guts analysis, and trim reports. * Driving sustainability initiatives for the plant and producers, contributing to continuous improvement goals. * Reviewing and ensuring compliance with labeling claims and product specifications. * Managing tri-state data and tags, ensuring proper follow-up, projections, and advancement of related programs. * Developing and implementing new ideas to enhance quality and operational efficiency, with a focus on: Conducting product quality attribute audits and improving auditing procedures. * Supporting the Export Verification Program by reviewing export orders for compliance, completing export documentation, and collaborating with USDA to ensure regulatory adherence.  * Maintaining proper aspects and operation of the described job and any other duties as assigned   POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience * Bachelor of Science in Food Science/Animal Science or related field or proven working experience in quality assurance, preferred. * Experience in meat judging and grading helpful.  * Knowledge of Quality Assurance Skills includes things such as Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety regulations. * Ability to read, write, and understand English. Spanish Language skills a plus * Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook. & Excel Personal Traits & Skills * Ability to learn, develop and work under pressure in a demanding environment, meet deadlines, make effective decisions, ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs, ability to lead others through change, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, skill in organization and prioritization, and diligence in completing assigned duties. * Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills.  * Strong skills to inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner.  * Effective collaborator and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines. * Ability to effectively communicate ideas verbally and in writing, be an initiative-taker, and manage difficult reporting situations. * Realization that personal presentation, attitude, and behavior are the reflection of and define the appearance of Upper Iowa Beef.   Technical Capabilities * Training may be provided to achieve necessary certifications such as: HACCP certification, Allergen Control training, and Food Recall training. * Proficiency with MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)  Physical Demands: * Age 18+ & authorized to work in the US. * Must pass pre-employment screening.  * Ability to stand, sit or walk up to 8-10+ hours a day. * Ability to work in a hot or cold work environment, follow safety rules & exercise caution in all work activities. * Position Located in Lime Springs, Iowa   The duration of the training program will vary depending on your individual progress. Completion of this training does not guarantee a supervisory position. Each employee is further assessed and evaluated to determine their readiness for promotion into a leadership role.
