Job Title: FSQA Supervisor FLSA Status: Exempt Department: FSQA SUMMARY: Supervises and coordinates, through visible and approachable leadership, the activities of Quality Assurance Technicians. Actively pursues a team environment focused on the achievement of food safety, high quality standards and high performance goals. These are accomplished by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervise the QA Technicians, set their work priorities and ensure smooth, efficient flow of material and in-process inspections. Work with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Shipping/Receiving, Maintenance, and other relevant activities to resolve problems in manufactured material which does not conform to specifications. Schedule, and help to perform, inspections. Prepare work instructions, standards, etc., related to manufacturing processes and hardware QA/QC. Participate in decisions about readiness to ship products. Ensure that records of discrepant materials and related items are kept in retrievable form. Prepare training material, examples, and visual aids for training in-house and contract manufacturing organizations. Approve procedures for teardown, packing and shipment of equipment. Inspects QA Technicians’ performance to verify conformance to customer specifications and directs setup and adjustments of workloads and schedules. Studies production schedules, estimates and tracks QA Technicians’ hour requirements and attendance. Monitors on a routine basis, QA reports to determine and analyze data. Motivates and coaches QA Technicians in order to achieve site goals and performance. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Acts as major interface between employees and managers in the Plant. Actively supports full compliance with state and federal rules and regulations regarding USDA-FSIS. Develops and implements appropriate personal objectives that support each fiscal year’s department objectives and the overall Company business plan. Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with GMP and safety policies Accountable for the compliance, verification, and implementation of the following responsibilities; food safety and regulatory requirements, quality systems, and product specification. Assist and support with training new QA Tech Good attendance is a must Must be able to working overtime and weekends Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; (appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.) Effectively, conducts counseling sessions as needed. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Interfaces with QA Technicians and company to resolve assorted issues. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of 2-4 years of supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some computer experience helpful. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: QA/QC practices and manufacturing techniques. Familiar with flow of work in purchasing, inspection and manufacturing. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong managerial and supervisory skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
