QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/JOB REQUIREMENTS (ABOUT YOU):

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in quality control or quality assurance in a produce manufacturing or distribution environment, or equivalent.
  • Science/ Food Science/ Technology diploma, or degree, is required
  • Knowledge & experience with HACCP, SOP’s, SSOP’s, and GMP’s
  • Experience or knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)
  • Will be regularly required to lift to 30lbs and infrequently up to 50lbs, material handling equipment available for use.
  • Can withstand cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
  • Will need to be able to stand and walk for extended periods during the day.
  • Intermediate or Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for sample delivery in company vehicle.

Responsibilities

ROLE:

The FSQA Technician assists in establishing and monitoring activities that will ensure quality in the processes by which products are developed. The goal is to improve processes so that defects or hazards of any kind do not arise while the products are being developed on the production line so that internal and external standards and regulations are met.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the ongoing development of plant standards and programs.
  • Enforce the QA program through communication with production personnel.
  • Problem solving & trouble shooting of product quality issues.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks to verify sanitation.
  • Conduct environmental swabs and maintain the environmental program to verify effectiveness of sanitation and detect any pathogen harborage.
  • Monitor and verify production process according to specification and conduct regular process line testing.
  • Monitoring production staff and surroundings for GMP & HACCP compliance
  • Data entry, record keeping & completion of QA forms.
  • Conduct calibration on several monitoring devices such as thermometers, pH meters, Chlorine electrodes etc.
  • Conduct shelf-life studies and assist with product development projects.
  • Assist in investigating product quality, foreign matter, and food borne illness complaints.
  • Assist with the monitoring of janitorial service, sanitation, and pest control programs.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising Freshpoint’s Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
  • Any other food safety & quality control related job assigned by Food Safety Program Manager
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
