SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • In-depth knowledge of the operation and technical specifications of Mission and Ground Systems.
  • Understanding of L3 Harris Maintenance Bulletins, engineering drawings and ECOs.
  • The ability to clearly communicate complex technical matters, both orally and in writing
  • Proficient in Unix & Windows Operating Systems and other Microsoft Office Products.
  • Understanding of, and ability to apply, EEO and OHS in the workplace with specific emphasis on risk management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply risk management principles and processes in relation to operational risks and legislative responsibilities, including willingness to implement actions arising from risk registers.
  • Working knowledge of test equipment for systems diagnosis and fault-finding, including RF spectrum analyser, oscilloscopes, digital meters, volt ohm meters, logic analysers, micro-computers and related utilities and micro-computer-controlled test equipment.
  • Compile and complete aircraft documentation and use computer-based maintenance management system to record servicing and maintenance actions, current configuration and serviceability status of aircraft and aeronautical product.
  • Understanding of a Quality Management System.
Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The FSR Avionics Technician provides specialised support to the Commonwealth for the Airborne Mission and Ground Support systems and capabilities delivered to RAAF Base Edinburgh by L3 Harris. Day-to-day remit will revolve around support operations for the airborne Mission System and associated Ground Support Systems (GDPS, SACS, MSTE and ACES). Liaise with, and support, the local maintenance, aircrew, SRSPO MS and Project related areas, as well as L3Harris (Greenville).

RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical and logistical assistance to the RAAF Maintenance and Logistics personnel, as required, at local, interstate or international locations.
  • Provide maintenance and logistical support for all the Ground Support Systems (GDPS, SACS, MSTE and ACES).
  • Support the Commonwealth in issues involving Mission and Ground Support Systems that may involve liaison with L3 Harris (Greenville).
  • Provide informal technical and logistical liaison between the Commonwealth and L3 Harris (Greenville) for resolution of problems discovered in the field.
  • Attain and maintain sufficient Technical Authorisations to maintain delivered systems.
  • Research hardware and software problems, recommend corrective action and assist in the implementation of the approved corrective action.
  • At the request of the Commonwealth provide airborne Mission System training.
  • Assist Commonwealth with the development and implementation of modifications on delivered systems, and provide test and evaluation support.
  • At the request of the Commonwealth provide an on-call help desk function.
  • Other duties appropriate to the classification as required, including attending required meetings and teleconferences.
