Description:
Reporting to the Hardware Manager, with daily assignment of either working on the sales floor or at the check-out, responsibilities for this position include the following:
- To come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude.
- To be dependable for all scheduled shifts.
- To provide excellent customer service by building trusted relationships with customers through knowledge, guidance and support in a manner which will promote the sale of merchandise and meet the needs, requirements and expectations of the customer.
- To perform general housekeeping duties and adhering to merchandising standards
- To perform carryout services for customers as requested.
- To stock shelves and display areas with merchandise and ensure proper pricing labels are applied.
- To advise the Hardware Manager of special or out-of-stock merchandise requested by customers.
- To resolve minor complaints in accordance with general sales policy and to refer more serious complaints to the appropriate personnel.
- To operate the point-of-sale system and prepare daily reconciliation as assigned.
- To process customer returns up to the amount designated by management.
- To maintain a constant alert against the unauthorized removal of merchandise.
- Under the direction of management, to aid in training team members in the general operation of assigned sections.
- To perform inventory counts.
- To be familiar with and adhere to Saskatoon Co-op policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must be strongly service-oriented and motivated, and capable of serving and assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Applicants must be prepared to increase product knowledge and improve selling techniques through special courses, product clinics and training sessions.
- Applicants must possess sufficient experience of Hardware and Building materials to effectively operate in all areas of the department.
- Applicants must possess specialized knowledge and a minimum of two years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, heating, paint, or tools.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to fulfill physical job requirements including: lifting and carrying of 50-75 lbs of force occasionally, 10-20 lbs of force constantly, and the ability to climb ladders.
- Estimating experience will be considered an asset.
- Must be able to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends .
- a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
