PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a recognized diploma/certificate in marketing, business, communications, or related discipline, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in corporate sponsorship activation, and/or community partnership programs and event planning.
  • Experience working in and with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Exceptional communication/interpersonal skills and strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships based on respect, reciprocity, creativity, collaboration, and trust.
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook).
  • The ability to use and maintain databases, and familiarity with the use of graphics software.
  • Have and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License is preferred.
  • Experience in event management, activation, or coordination.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit), with strong connections to Indigenous communities, cultures, histories, and traditions. Familiarity with Indigenous organizations across Manitoba is an asset.
  • Experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity is considered is an asset.
  • Experience working with a broad range of clients from community organizations, major businesses and volunteers is an asset.
  • Liquor product knowledge and/or gaming industry experience is considered an asset.
  • French/English bilingual skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Manager, Community Support, the Indigenous Sponsorship Program Coordinator will lead Indigenous sponsorship initiatives and strengthen partnerships across Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries (MBLL). This role is responsible for coordinating, administering, and implementing MBLL’s Indigenous Sponsorship Program, supporting charitable organizations, and fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and businesses. While the incumbent will be part of the Marketing & Communications Division, this position works closely with the Program Manager, Indigenous Relations, and MBLL’s Indigenous Advisory Circle, bridging efforts to ensure a coordinated and culturally informed approach to Indigenous sponsorship.
This position is designated for an Indigenous candidate as part of our commitment to reconciliation and employment equity. Candidates must self-identify as Indigenous.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide guidance and recommendations on tailoring support opportunities to strengthen partnerships and enhance relationships with Indigenous peoples, communities, organizations, and businesses.
  • Participate in the development, valuation, and negotiation of sponsorship agreements in consultation with Management.
  • In consultation with the Manager, Community Support and Program Manager, Indigenous Relations, negotiate sponsorship opportunities within Indigenous Sponsorship Program.
  • Manage the planning, coordination, and implementation of approved sponsorships and partnership agreements, special events, event promotions, and related activities from concept to execution.
  • Apply a cultural perspective, drawing on knowledge and lived experience with an understanding of Indigenous customs, relationship etiquette, and building trust with and within Indigenous communities.
  • Act as a public representative for MBLL at sponsored events.
  • Provide a high level of professionalism and customer service to internal and external community members, partners, and volunteers.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities for sponsored events and activities which support reciprocity, relationship-building, and may include brand strategies for the corporation.
  • Coordinate sponsorship activities and work with internal teams to ensure alignment and smooth collaboration.
  • Prepare and share detailed event information with all relevant parties to ensure clarity and coordination.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to organize volunteer and participant activities, including scheduling, roles, and event-related benefits.
  • Work with a variety of partners, organizations, and groups to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Develop and lead event activation plans, coordinating activities and logistics with partners and other involved organizations.
  • Work extensively with corporate partners, event organizing committees, and community volunteers for successful execution of sponsored events/programs.
  • Participate in set up/tear down activities and transportation of materials and equipment as required.
  • Provide feedback to management and Indigenous Relations team with respect to event activities and execution and determine if sponsorship requires changes.
  • Track and document event activities, anomalies, and progress in the sponsorship database, keeping the Manager, Community Support informed of any issues that may require further attention, or be beyond scope.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate monthly ticket tracking spreadsheets for Management detailing the specific use of each ticket received under a sponsorship agreement.
  • Lead the activation of assigned sponsorship events and programs.
  • Manage assigned leveraging budgets and support the area’s annual leveraging budget process.
  • Manage the realization of all negotiated benefits and recognition for assigned sponsorship and corporate partnership files.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on all event opportunities that will further business relations and meet corporate objectives to the Manager, Community Support
  • Work with management on sponsorship application reviews, recommendations, and post-sponsorship analysis.
  • Assess new sponsorship applications and provide recommendations/findings to the Manager, Community Support regarding value and opportunities associated.
  • Assess existing sponsorships/renewals for opportunities and develop opportunities for involvement. Provide recommendations/findings to Manager, Community Support.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager of Indigenous Relations and MBLL’s Indigenous Advisory Circle to assess and verify the authenticity of Indigenous organizations, in an Indigenous-led approach ensuring alignment with community standards and best practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of program procedures and databases.
  • Respond to inquiries on sponsorship program and application processes.
  • Provide sponsorship updates for corporate-wide communication channels.
  • Provide functional supervision for staff and volunteers at assigned sponsored events.
  • Provide functional supervision to staff as it relates to pre activation and sponsorship coordination support.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
