FUEL DIVISION CONTROLLER
The Woodward Group of Companies’ Fuel Division consists of 3 primary divisions: Arctic Operations, Labrador Operations and Aviation Operations. The Arctic and Labrador Operations supply essential services to over 40 isolated indigenous communities in the form of fuel for power generation, home heating and automotive vehicles & equipment. The Arctic Division also supplies fuel to several large arctic minesites. The Aviation Operation supplies into plane fuel and other critical aviation services at 4 airports in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and the Woodward Group Controller, the Controller will develop and deliver on strategies for financial reporting, maintain financial controls and reporting financial performance. The Controller will ensure risks are considered and managed, and ensure the safeguarding of assets and information. The Controller will provide budget analysis, support and advice on the financial impact of business decisions, and vetting commercial agreements for financial terms, accounting treatment, and risk.
QUALIFICATIONS:
accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset

· Works with team to ensure efficient month end, quarter end and year-end processes.
· Supports each operating unit by completing and reviewing financial variance analysis.
· The incumbent must ensure that the management team has both timely and accurate financial reports, metrics (KPI’s) and analyses as well as the understanding of that information to effectively use it in their daily decision making.
· Directly review and monitor invoicing under major contracts;
· Cash flow planning for major fuel purchases and coordinating with external lenders.
· Regular reporting to external lenders and other external financial stakeholders.
· Coordinate fuel inventory planning for Labrador and Aviation Divisions.
· Capacity to learn commodity taxes impacting fuel sales including those under the Excise Tax Act, Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, Nunavut tax regulations and various provincial regulations;
· Ensure regular reporting requirements under the Benzene in Gasoline Regulations and Sulphur in Gasoline Regulations are met including emissions and 12 hour notices of imports.
· Foreign exchange currency planning including FX hedging contracts as necessary.
· Regular reporting to the Public Utilities Commission of NL (PUB) as needed.
· Plan purchase of carbon credits and statutory reporting under the Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). This includes coordinating an external audit of CFR processes.
· Prepares, reviews and is responsible for the external audit process and deliverables for the Fuel Division’s legal entity.
· Regularly reviews, analyzes, and improves internal processes. Assists in setting and maintaining key financial policies and internal controls to improve workflow and overall effectiveness.
· Ensures that financial data and reporting is timely and accurate, and appropriate internal controls are in place, documented and fully implemented to meet or exceed all industry, regulatory, and corporate governance guidelines.
· Supports and continually review/improve internal processes and systems to achieve higher cost efficiency, data capture and relevance and strong internal controls.
· Plays an active leadership role in budgeting, monitoring, influencing and reducing operating costs through reporting, analysis and identification of potential areas where savings can be created.
