MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience with similar duties.
  • Current on Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and Safe Transportation of Hazardous Materials training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to receive instructions/directions and provide progress reports via radio or cellular phone.
  • High school diploma or equivalent training & experience.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Must be a USN to fill this position.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport.
  • Must be eligible for a Non-Sensitive (Tier 1) investigation and be able to receive a Geneva Convention CAC issued.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Responsibilities

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Provide aviation and ground fuel (currently Diesel or JP-8 based fuels) distribution and servicing support with the USG provided fuel truck. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fills in for the Fuel Support Lead in their absence.
  • Deliver diesel as needed for generators and respond as needed to daily call-ins.
  • Provide fuel support services at AAAF to Government Owned vehicles.
  • Ensure actual receipt and issuance metering of fuel usage.
  • Sample and perform visual inspections of diesel receipts as required IAW T.O. 42B-1-1 to ensure the quality of product.
  • Receives, stores, and issues ground and aircraft fuel of various types.
  • Receives, stores, and issues cryogenics products.
  • Inspects/refuels vehicles and ensures all equipment, tire pressures, and fluids levels are at appropriate levels.
  • Preforms quality control checks on all Fuel storage facilities and input repair requests as needed.
  • Operates/refuels vehicles and assure proper grounding before dispensing any grade of fuel.
  • Manage, maintain, inspect, repair, troubleshoot and modify all fuel and petroleum storage, distribution, and dispensing systems, including all associated piping and valves.
  • Procure limited unleaded fuel from the local Ascension economy or Government approved method.
