Description

Full-Stack Developer (Remote, U.S.-Based)
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: United States (Remote)
Compensation: Based on experience
Start Date: Immediate
About the Role
A growing civic tech company is seeking a versatile Full-Stack Developer to help power a suite of secure communication and content platforms used by public sector organizations. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you’ll work across backend services, APIs, and user-facing interfaces—supporting both web and mobile environments.
We’re looking for someone comfortable in a startup-style environment, can learn quickly, and enjoys solving real-world engineering problems. If you’re a self-starter who likes autonomy, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop backend features and APIs that support web and mobile applications
  • Collaborate with internal teams on integration projects and data workflows
  • Maintain and modernize legacy systems and architecture
  • Support secure communication and user interaction functionality
  • Document your work clearly and contribute to a shared knowledge base
  • Troubleshoot and optimize performance across systems

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working across both backend and frontend systems
  • Ability to design, consume, and troubleshoot API-based data flows
  • Familiarity with how content platforms power mobile experiences
  • Past experience working with communication tools (chat, collaboration, or messaging systems)
  • Comfort working in cloud-hosted, Linux-based environments
  • Strong development habits (source control, documentation, testing)
  • Proven ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with content management platforms or headless CMS architectures
  • Exposure to real-time data or messaging infrastructure
  • Background in government, civic tech, or public safety systems
  • Prior work integrating third-party platforms into larger systems
  • Familiarity with access controls, identity systems, or secure user flows

Tools & Environment (You Don’t Need to Know All of These)
While we use a mix of modern and legacy technologies, we don’t expect you to have worked with every tool in our stack. What matters is that you’re adaptable, curious, and effective.

Why Join Us?

  • Work that directly impacts public safety, transparency, and community trust
  • Small, focused team where your contributions are visible and meaningful
  • Fully remote with flexible hours and high autonomy
  • Opportunity to influence platform design, infrastructure, and growth
  • Strong growth potential as we scale nationally and internationally

How to Apply
Please submit your resume along with a brief note about your experience and interest in the role. If you have examples of past work or open-source contributions, we’d love to see them.
