REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience as a Full-stack developer
  • Proficient in Java with some exposure to Scala
  • Experience in with a variety of cloud technologies or techniques including Spark, Data Bricks, Apache Beam etc
  • Awareness of Azure Cloud Technologies
  • Demonstrable experience in Power BI
  • Unix experience
  • Experience with front end technologies such as Angular, relational databases, automated testing frameworks and build tools is beneficial
  • Familiar with techniques and concepts related to building high quality software in an agile fashion including automated testing, tooling, and DevOps tools/concepts

ABOUT THE ROLE

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Full Stack Developer to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Glasgow.
Our client is looking for a Full Stack Developer to join a team whose primary goal is to focus on the strategic architecture builds and enhancing existing applications to meet their internal renovation plans. You will support other teams to drive the technological direction for current and future regulatory builds.
The successful candidates will form a team which will focus on renovating an existing tech stack to adopt new strategic data sourcing and modelling introduced within finance tech into an existing regulatory reporting plant. The team will then move onto strategic renovation of existing plant to cloud technologies, adopting the best practices and architectural design to ensure they deliver new products that help their consumer’s working patterns.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Building solution that fit the client’s user’s needs
  • Design and implement engaging user interfaces using technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks like Angular
  • Work within an agile squad developing within a system comprising of numerous Java services
  • Technologies and techniques such as highly multi-threaded Java, Sharded Mongo DB and caching are used in the stack to provide the scale and performance that the product requires
  • You will gain exposure to both new and complex technologies as well as in-depth business knowledge
  • Write quality unit tests, supply documentation if relevant for new feature build outs, and be involved in the test cycle, including proposing how an item can be automatically tested (and potentially deployed)
  • Although there is a dedicated release team, you may need to occasionally help with weekend deployment activities
