ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a developer with at least two years’ commercial experience to lead the design and delivery of new web applications. This is a part-time, remote-working role where you will be expected to take initiative and drive projects forward. You will manage the consultation, planning, and design stages, working with management to clarify requirements and propose effective solutions. One of the management team has development experience and can provide support, but you will take ownership of the technical direction.
The first major project will be the development of a customer portal. This system will allow parents and students to register, access course information, make payments, and manage their details online. It must be secure, reliable, and intuitive, with reporting tools to support internal administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead consultation and planning with management to define requirements and recommend technical solutions.
• Manage the design phase, ensuring applications are built for scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Develop and maintain web applications using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Design, manage, and optimise relational databases.
• Implement and monitor robust security practices.
• Set up and manage backup and recovery processes.
• Use Git version control for code management and collaboration.
• Test, debug, and maintain applications to ensure reliability and performance.
