As a full stack engineer, you'll have the unique opportunity to work across the entire technology stack, from high-performance backend services to stunning user interfaces. As a Full Stack Software Engineer II on this team, you will work across both backend and frontend systems to deliver end-to-end features for Copilot and Bing. On the backend, you'll work on building modern C#-based service layers, high-performance distributed systems and prompt engineering. On the frontend, you'll build beautiful, responsive experiences using server-side and client-side frameworks. This opportunity will allow you to accelerate your career as a versatile engineer, develop deep expertise across the full technology stack, and gain hands-on experience shipping AI-powered features to billions of users. This position is based in Mountain View, CA or Redmond, WA and requires in-office work 4 days per week starting January 2026. On-site work is preferred for this role. Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction. Responsibilities Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features. Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight. Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable. Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation. Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems. Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Experience with React or similar modern JavaScript frameworks. Experience with native mobile application development (iOS with Swift and/or Android with Kotlin). There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
