Description

Performance Driven Workforce (PDW) is now hiring Full-time Automotive Trim Sewer Technicians for an automotive Tier 1 supplier. Trim Sewer Technicians will operate industrial sewing machines to sew all products in accordance with company performance and quality standards. The industrial sewer maintains sewing machines and related parts, including pattern plates, needles, presser feet, automatic cutting tools and blades. This Full-time Automotive Trim Sewer Technician position is based out of Livonia, MI and offers an AM day shift. Candidates who possess a passion for sewing and meet the requirements below for this position are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities of Sewers: * Operate and maintain sewing machines and related parts, including pattern plates, needles, presser feet, automatic cutting tools and blades. * Read and interpret work orders and adjust machines and materials to match, including selecting fabric, thread, and needles, mounting necessary attachments and double-checking settings before beginning a large run. * Inspect and repair finished products as needed and make machine adjustments to compensate for errors or quality issues. * Record accurately the materials used, maintenance performed, and number of pieces completed during each shift, keeping each of these metrics within target ranges. * Attach elastic, cord, zippers, hooks, buttons, and other trimmings to sewn pieces according to work order instructions and diagrams. * Troubleshoot basic machinery problems and request service or repairs. Shift: * AM day shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm (Monday - Friday + overtime as needed) Requirements: * Must be at least 18 years of age * Minimum high school diploma or equivalent * Minimum 4 years of industrial sewing machine operation * Ability to pass a hands-on sewing assessment * Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide) * Ability to read, write, and understand instructions written and communicate in English * Good verbal and written communication skills Preferred Skills: * Prior manufacturing experience * Experience working with Juki sewing machines Retirees and veterans are welcome.
