Summary/Objective This position is responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience, achieving sales and profit goals, and monitoring and controlling all established quality assurance standards. Position Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to) Product Management Create and update beer and wine lists as appropriate. Request new beers and wines to meet the needs of the customer. Ensure shelves are well stocked with products. Handle special orders as needed. Tastings in the department following company policy. Assist with inventories. Operations Establish performance goals to meet or exceed department goals. Develop appropriate scheduling to manage customer volume during hours of operation. Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines. Inform and educate all departments about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions. Prepare and submit seasonal promotions for approval by the Beer and Wine Manager. Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies in inventory. Adhere to an established supply budget and obtain spending approval from the Beer and Wine Manager for expenses outside of the approved threshold. Adhere to company guidelines regarding internal and external loss prevention, including risk management, accident prevention/safety awareness, and loss prevention. Maintain sales floor, back room, and walk-in coolers in a safe, clean, and organized manner. Maintain store products in a manner that allows easy access to back stock. Use all equipment correctly and under manufacturer guidelines. Customer Service Immediately greet all customers with genuine enthusiasm and sincerity. Customize the approach to meet the customer's needs and build rapport. Create customer loyalty through individual service. Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. Offer product samples, consistent with company guidelines and applicable laws, to help customers discover new items or products. Inform customers of specials. Ensure the department is clean, organized, and customer-friendly. Safety/Compliance Ensure the store's sanitation practices and procedures are in place to ensure all departments are clean and visually appealing to the highest industry standards. Ensure all food safety and sanitation requirements are met. Adhere to OLCC requirements, which include but are not limited to advance preparation of yearly audits. Travel Some travel may be offered Requirements Required Education and Experience Current Food Handlers Permit Current OLCC Permit Must be 21 years of age One (1) year of retail experience. Solid understanding of the beer and wine industry. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality with deadlines. Responds with an appropriate "sense of urgency" when needed. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation, takes initiative, and problem-solving. Excellent customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Possess strong knowledge of food safety. Possesses creative and effective merchandising and display skills. Possess comprehensive product information with a proven history of using knowledge to train. Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of food, including ingredients, applications, pronunciations, and culinary skills. Possess a genuine passion for food.
