POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Position: Full Time, Permanent – Campus Security Supervisor
  • Location: Whitby ON
  • Facility: Education
  • Schedule: Must be able to work Days/Nights/ 12 hours Rotation schedule
  • Hours: 40-44 hours per week
  • Salary: $23 to $26/HR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • Valid G Class Driver Licence and clean driver abstract.
  • Strong knowledge on Section 494 and Trespass to Property Act.
  • Minimum 2 years of Full time Tactical Security Guard experience in commercial, retail, education, or related field experience is a must.
  • Minimum 2 years of Security Supervisor/Leadership or related experience in commercial, retail, education, or related field experience is a must.
  • Educational background in Law enforcement, Police Foundations, Security and Investigations, Criminology, or related subjects is considered an asset.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all of the activities undertaken by their shift.
  • The Shift Supervisor is expected to be highly familiar with all subordinates’ roles, job functions and job descriptions.
  • In the normal course of duty, the shift supervisor may be required to complete any and all duties assigned to himself/herself and/or that of their subordinates.
  • Serves as the primary decision maker in emergency situations, incident response and matters involving tenant concerns, complaints, services requirements etc.
  • In the absence of the senior security leadership team, provides counsel to senior management during the initial stages of a security/safety-related crisis or potentially significant incidents.
  • Ensures that security operations occur consistent with policy, Standing Orders and rule of law.
  • Supervises, coaches and is responsible to ensure all staff are equipped and uniformed as per the standard prior to signing on-duty.
  • Inspection of security personnel memo books and completion of daily shift briefings and parade.
  • Responsible for coordinating and documenting general training of all security personnel working on their platoon.
  • Responsible for overseeing new candidate training to include training performed by Training Guards.
  • Responsible for documenting and reporting all instances to Security and Paragon Leadership whereby a new candidate during their probationary period is not performing to property management standard and as such may not be eligible for continued placement.
  • Ensures that Incident Reports are properly completed in a manner consistent with site policies and protocols.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of guard force timesheets by emailing any schedule changes and/or adjustments to senior Security Leadership and Paragon Scheduling department.
  • Ensure that the all site and Paragon policies pertaining to guard conduct and professional standards is applied for disciplinary action in a consistent manner and for all instances.
  • Assess the criticality and impact of incidents, works closely with other stakeholders and takes action to mitigate business impact.
  • May lead or assist with investigation of crimes, and employee/tenant misconduct.
  • Serve as the principle point of contact with public safety agencies attending at the property in response to emergency situations.
  • Identifies security awareness deficiencies and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Issues security equipment to security personnel ensuring equipment is properly signed out and returned in good working order.
  • Regular auditing of keys, pass cards and security equipment.
  • Ensures prompt communication with the vendor (Paragon) regarding any staffing shortages or unplanned short notice absences that the site is experiencing on their shift.
  • Administrative duties pertaining to Human Resource issues in compliance with site and Paragon policy and professional conduct standards.
  • Other duties and project work as assigned.
