Position: Full-Time Care Attendant Department: 6 Pavilion Med/Surg Oncology Location: UPMC Passavant (McCandless) Shifts: Primarily M-F either 7AM -3PM or 8AM - 4PM. Hours vary by unit and are based on department need. **Title and salary are based on education and experience. Responsibilities: · Provide direct patient care under RN supervision, including hygiene, mobility, and repositioning. · Perform core care attendant tasks: observation, hygiene, bed-making, transfers, and comfort measures. · Support patient activities such as calls, meals, and transport · Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment, completing safety checks and linen changes. · Provide patient feedback to RNs and report status changes. · Deliver meals, refill water pitchers, and distribute mail. · Maintain effective communication and professional relationships. · Accept feedback, seek learning opportunities, and improve skills. · Assist with planning and prioritizing tasks as needed. · Participate in self-review and suggest department improvements. · Take ownership of assignments and approach challenges proactively. · Stock supplies, distribute equipment, and perform messenger functions. · Communicate clearly and effectively with the healthcare team. · Understand cultural diversity, workplace safety, and professional conduct. · Foster positive relationships with colleagues and support a respectful work environment. · Complete clerical duties as required. · Follow safety protocols, infection control standards, and hospital policies · Respond to emergent situations within the scope of the Care Attendant role. · Offer one-on-one companionship and patient supervision as needed. · Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
