Description A Community’s Driver is responsible for driving the Community’s vehicles to transport Residents to and from medical appointments, social events, and other life enrichment activities that take place outside of the Community. Requirements Duties & Responsibilities: 1. drives Community vehicles to transport Residents; 2. assists Residents in getting in and out of Community vehicles; 3. loads, secures, and unloads Residents’ oxygen tanks and personal mobility devices (walkers, canes, wheelchairs, etc.) into and out of Community vehicles; 4. practices safe and courteous driving techniques while driving Community vehicles; 5. keeps accurate vehicle mileage, maintenance, and passenger logs; 6. operates wheelchair lifts in vehicles so equipped; 7. runs Community errands; 8. conducts periodic checks of Community vehicles’ fuel and oil levels, windshield wipers, windshield washer fluid, antifreeze, lights, etc. and coordinates vehicle maintenance with the Director of Environmental Services; 9. cleans the interior and exterior of Community vehicles; 10. performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Life Enrichment. Required: A) driver must: a) have and maintain a valid driver’s license; B) have and maintain a safe driving record and be insurable at non-high-risk rates under insurance carried by their Community; C) have and maintain a current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (“CPR”) certificate. Preferred: The following qualifications would enhance the skill set of a prospective Driver: A) experience working with seniors. Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: 1. must be able to maintain moderate physical activity for an entire shift, occasionally handling objects up to 75 pounds and frequently handling objects up to 45 pounds; 2. Frequent standing, walking, and grasping; 3. Frequent stooping and reaching above shoulder heights; 4. occasional sitting, crawling, kneeling, and squatting
Responsibilities
The Community Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to medical appointments and social activities using community vehicles. They also perform routine vehicle maintenance, cleaning, and administrative logging of mileage and passenger data.
