FULL-TIME EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT (30-40 HOURS A WEEK)

kcs Association is looking for an Educational Assistant, who is able to work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Experience with children with exceptional needs is an asset. Responsibilities of the Educational Assistant will include (but not be limited to):

  • To support other team members in the classrooms
  • To help children pursue developmental goals
  • Foster child’s independence within a safe learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with the learning team (Educators, Educational Assistants, IPP Coordinator, Program Director)
  • Provide personal care assistance if needed (feeding, toileting, etc.)
  • Utilize consistent positive reinforcement, redirection, modeling and cueing, to help the child learn appropriate social interactions
  • Maintain required documentation of child’s progress (monthly reports, year-end summaries etc.)
  • Assist with classroom activities and duties if the child is functioning with immediate supports (e.g. engaged with other children and staff)

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Certificate or equivalent, minimum Level 1 (can be acquired as you work)
  • Experience working with children, experience with developmental delays considered an asset
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Child Intervention Check
  • First Aid/CPR
