Job Overview:
The School of Arts and Sciences is seeking a dedicated and dynamic English Faculty member to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, a passion for literature and composition, and a commitment to student success. The English Faculty will be responsible for delivering engaging instruction across a variety of English courses, including writing, literature, and critical thinking, while supporting the department’s academic goals and contributing to curriculum development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in composition, literature, and related subjects
  • Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments in alignment with academic standards
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and learning
  • Advise and mentor students on academic progress and career pathways
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and academic committees
  • Engage in professional development and stay current with developments in the field
  • Contribute to the academic and cultural life of the university through research, service, and community involvement

Requirements:

  • Ability to teach a wide range of English courses including composition, literature, and academic writing
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with diverse pedagogical approaches and inclusive teaching practices
  • Willingness to participate in departmental initiatives and university service
  • Commitment to academic integrity and excellence in education

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in English, Literature, Comparative Literature, Rhetoric, or a closely related field (PhD preferred)
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated record of academic achievement and scholarly engagement
  • Experience using digital learning platforms and tools (e.g., LMS systems, online teaching tools)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary academic environment
