Job Summary:
At JDC Custom Homes, the Estimator plays a critical role in ensuring the success and
profitability of each project. Responsible for preparing accurate, detailed takeoffs and cost
estimates, the Estimator helps align client expectations with budgets while supporting our
commitment to quality and transparency. This role directly impacts our ability to schedule
effectively, secure trusted trade partners, and maintain the high level of trust we build with our clients, ensuring every project moves forward with clear, realistic financial foundations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Accurate Quantity Takeoffs and Cost Estimating
-Review client meeting notes, drawings, and specifications
-Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural plans.
-Generate clear, accurate cost estimates including labour, materials, equipment, and
allowances.
– Solicit, collect, and analyze quotes from trade and suppliers to ensure accurate,
competitive pricing
Budget Development and Client Alignment:
-Create budget proposal (Class C) and full proposal (Class A) that aligns with the client
expectations and project scope.
-Clearly define and record project scope
Create Proposal:
-Prepare Client-facing Construction Proposals
-Assist with detail during contract presentation with Client
Tracking and Reporting:
-Regular Reporting with Operations Manager on Project Success
-Maintain budgetary proposal data document
Key Skills:
-Proficient in Bluebeam and Excel
-Plan Reading and Quantity Takeoff
-Strong Residential construction and Ontario Building Code Knowledge
– Organized and Time Management

-Clear communication with clients, designers and trades
