American International University (AIU) is looking for dynamic and engaged full-time faculty for its newly established School of Engineering. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, building successful learning environments with students, who collaboratively engage with faculty and mentor students, and who are ambitious about developing new and impactful research within the Kuwait region, particularly in areas aligned to Sustainable Energy and Food Security.
AIU invites applicants for a full-time Faculty (Assistant, Associate) appointment in the Chemical Engineering program. The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages professional trends and technologies to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will be a leader and current, active member of the chemical engineering field. He/she will also be able to utilize and teach basic engineering sciences, materials-related courses, and advanced chemical engineering courses, as well as have experience with standard industry tools. Also, the candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The position carries the expectation for research and school and University service in addition to teaching responsibilities.
Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching related to their specific expertise within the professional Chemical Engineering curriculum, and be able to work within a small program, specialized in personal attention. Also, we expect leadership in undergraduate programs, curriculum development, mentoring, and startups. We welcome candidates who will diversify our curriculum and our faculty with regards to race, gender, and ethnicity.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Practical communication skills in English
  • University teaching experience
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship
  • Interest and experience working effectively with a diverse university community
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines

Experience:

  • Chemical Engineering: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Teaching: 5 years (Preferred)

Education:

  • Doctorate (Preferred)

Language:

  • English (Required)
