POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are currently seeking a skilled, reliable, and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will work along with the Maintenance Manager to take ownership of all aspects of property maintenance, continuing an established program that ensures the facility remains in excellent condition. This position is key to the guest experience and day-to-day operations, working proactively to maintain systems, respond to repairs, and ensure safety and compliance throughout the property.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience or general interest in maintenance role very important.
  • Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry a definite asset.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Working knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed
  • Valid driver’s license; trade certification(s) an asset
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks across all hotel areas (guest rooms, common areas, kitchen, banquet spaces)
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and staff
  • Oversee and manage maintenance logs, inspections, and service schedules
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and scheduled servicing
  • Ensure all building systems comply with health, safety, fire, and building codes
  • Maintain exterior areas including parking lots, signage, landscaping support, and seasonal tasks (e.g., snow removal)
  • Work collaboratively with the General Manager and department heads to prioritize work and support ongoing operational needs
