Description The Full-Time Maintenance Assistant supports the overall safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of the assisted living community. This role is responsible for assisting with general maintenance tasks and providing safe, reliable transportation for residents to medical appointments, activities, and outings. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, and skilled in both hands-on maintenance work and resident service. Maintenance Duties Assist in the daily upkeep and repair of the community, including minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry tasks. Complete routine maintenance requests in resident apartments and common areas. Ensure the community grounds are clean, safe, and presentable (snow removal, lawn care, trash removal, etc.). Monitor and report maintenance needs that require outside contractors. Maintain a clean and organized workshop and storage areas. Perform safety checks and inspections as directed to ensure compliance with state and community standards. Transportation Duties Safely transport residents to and from scheduled medical appointments, shopping trips, and community outings. Operate the community vehicle(s) in compliance with all traffic laws and safety guidelines. Assist residents entering and exiting vehicles, ensuring safety and comfort at all times. Maintain a clean vehicle and perform regular safety checks (fuel, fluids, tires, lights, etc.). Coordinate scheduling and communicate with staff to ensure timely transportation services. Requirements Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid Indiana driver’s license with a clean driving record. Previous maintenance, transportation, or related experience preferred (assisted living or healthcare setting a plus). Basic knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC). Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks. Strong customer service and communication skills; patience and compassion when working with older adults. Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and meet state regulatory requirements.
